Mosquito & Midge Fly Control

Mosquito and Midge Fly Control Services

Mosquito control

Enjoyment of an outdoor pond or lake can quickly be ruined by mosquitos. Besides causing itchy bites, mosquitos can also transmit diseases, such as West Nile virus, dog heartworm, Zika virus, and equine encephalitis. The best way to control mosquitos is to target their breeding source. Mosquitoes prefer to lay eggs in stagnant water, therefore removing muck and debris around ponds and adding aeration systems can cut down on mosquitos. In addition to natural methods, insecticides can be used to effectively kill mosquito larvae in the water.

Midge fly control

Although midge flies don’t bite or transmit diseases like mosquitoes, they can still be a nuisance around lakes and ponds. Midge flies thrive and reproduce in waters with excessive nutrients, organic muck accumulation and low oxygen levels since these conditions aren’t favored by their predators. Swarms of midges can distract from enjoying outdoor activities, stain and damage building materials, and attract spiders. Larvicide and improving the overall health of the body of water can help reduce midge fly populations.
